API Spec Q1 is a company level certification based on the standard developed and published by the API "American Petroleum Institute" and is titled "Specification for Quality Management System Requirements for Manufacturing Organizations for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry".
API Q1 is commonly paralleled to ISO 9001. API Q1 is often paired with ISO 9001 for greater global reach for marketability, despite the fact that API Q1 is a more robust standard. Additionally API Q1 is often paired with specific API design standards for particular Oil & Gas manufacturing.

API's new edition of Specification Q1, Specification for Quality Management System Requirements for Manufacturing Organizations for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry, efficiently meets industry demands for an improved quality management system among manufacturing organizations. The new edition of Spec Q1 contains 85+ new requirements (over previous editions) and 5 new sections.
